My name is Markus Decker. I was born in Flensburg, Germany. It’s near the [?] border. After [?] I went to ‘Realschule’ (secondary school). I had nice friends there and I liked some of my new [?], like English - by Class 8 I was quite good at it.
Life in a small town can be very [?]. So I [?] a lot. That helped me with my English - [?] I went, it was usually the one language everyone understood.
In Class 9 I knew I wanted a job that lets you travel. I’m good with computers, so the [?] suggested the job of [?]. But I didn’t really want an office job. Then I saw an [?] for trainees with an English hotel group. They wanted people with English and one other European language (mine is German, of course!) and with some [?] of hotel work. I got the [?], filled it in and … got the job.
[?] my first year I’ve been here in Hull, in the north of England, most of the time. The [?] are very long, but I don’t mind - I find the work interesting because I meet lots of [?] people.
